Capacitive touchscreens use contact sensors to induce voltage in conductors on the screen, generating a relative current and measuring the touch point based on distance. In low-temperature environments, the moisture content on the palm surface is low, resulting in poor conductivity, which can affect sensor performance. This can cause industrial tablets to not properly recognize the touch location and result in touch failure. Capacitive touchscreens typically operate between -10 °C and 60 °C. They are susceptible to these effects when used in cold environments. Compared to capacitive touchscreens, temperature has a lesser impact on resistive touchscreens. Because they utilize a different process, their operation is achieved through microscopic circuits within the touchscreen, making them less susceptible to temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, resistive touchscreens have a more mature manufacturing process and utilize durable materials. Resistive touchscreens operate within a temperature range of -10 °C to 60 °C, which is sufficient for most environments. Infrared touchscreens, on the other hand, are completely unaffected by current, voltage, and static electricity, making them suitable for a wide range of lightly polluted environments. However, due to their single sensor, infrared touchscreens are susceptible to damage and aging, and their touch interface cannot withstand intrusion and destructive treatment, resulting in complex maintenance. In low-temperature environments, the static electricity generated by infrared touch screens during use can easily attract dust, which in turn affects the use of industrial tablet computers. Infrared touch screens are suitable for use in the aerospace field.
